HIMSS Welcomes Two New Executive Team Members to Enterprise

HIMSS is excited to announce the appointment of two new executive team members:

• Charles Alessi, MD, LRCP, MRCS, chief clinical officer, HIMSS International
• Bruce Steinberg, managing director & executive vice president, HIMSS International

“HIMSS has been making tremendous strides in fostering innovation and sustainable transformation of health on a global level,” said Hal Wolf, HIMSS president & CEO. “We have been working to add unique talents and critical positions to our team in order to support HIMSS’s strategies. I am excited to share these new additions to leadership.”

Dr. Charles Alessi, Chief Clinical Officer, HIMSS International

Dr. Alessi brings more than 25 years of experience in global healthcare policy and clinical practice to HIMSS. Recently chairing the National Association of Primary Care (NAPC), Alessi has acted in numerous external positions for governments and executive agencies on a national and international level. Alessi will continue in his role as senior advisor for Public Health England along with his responsibilities for HIMSS.

As the international chief clinical officer, Alessi will lead relationship-building efforts among HIMSS’s various international clinician-focused communities. He will help further HIMSS's position as a thought leader in the health industry, supporting both the vision and understanding of information and technology’s roles in the advancement of health and care.

“I am delighted to be joining HIMSS to support colleagues in spearheading our mission and supporting growth in the organization’s clinical membership globally,” Alessi said in regards to his appointment.

Bruce Steinberg, Managing Director & Executive Vice President, HIMSS International

Steinberg brings to HIMSS more than 30 years of international experience enabling the growth of innovative businesses like MTV Europe and People Tree. In his most recent position, he served as chief executive officer of Big White Wall, which offers an anonymous digital resource for mental health. He will continue to be a member of the Council for Beyond Type 1 (diabetes) and a trustee of the Unforgettable Foundation (dementia).

In response to his appointment, Steinberg stated, “I am excited to be joining the organization and, with the recent addition of Health 2.0 and Healthbox, I am sure we will continue to advance our mission and support the transformation of the health and care ecosystem on the international stage.”
