Online Journal of Nursing Informatics

The Online Journal of Nursing Informatics, is a free, international, peer-reviewed publication that supports all functional areas of nursing informatics. The journal was launched in 1996, with readership spanning over 49 countries.   As of May 2023, OJNI has permanently suspended publication, though its archives remain available as an open-access resource.

All content in the OJNI archives is freely accessible, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without any charge or the need for prior permission from the publisher or authors. The journal’s legacy continues through its contributions to advancing nursing informatics worldwide.

The HIMSS Foundation expresses our utmost gratitude to the extraordinary editorial team whose dedication and expertise made OJNI a trusted and influential publication:

  • Editor in Chief: June Kaminski, RN, MSN, PhD(c) – Nursing Curriculum Coordinator, Research Coordinator, Informatics & E-Learning, Aboriginal Health Consultant, and Arthritis Research Canada. June's visionary leadership and deep commitment to informatics education have been the cornerstone of OJNI's success.
